Dr. Colby Mussett is a board-certified podiatrist and foot and ankle specialist in Gainesville, Virginia, dedicated to providing advanced lower extremity care. He completed his undergraduate education at Northern Virginia Community College, NVCC, before earning his medical degree from the Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine in Independence, Ohio. He then completed a three-year podiatric medicine and surgery residency at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah.
During his residency, Dr. Mussett received extensive training in foot and ankle surgery, including forefoot, rearfoot, and ankle procedures, while rotating through major hospitals across the Salt Lake and Utah Valley region. His clinical interests include arthroscopic surgery, reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, sports medicine, Charcot reconstruction, and diabetic limb salvage. While training at a Level 1 trauma center, he gained significant experience treating lower extremity musculoskeletal conditions and complex soft tissue trauma.
As a Virginia native, Dr. Mussett is proud to serve patients in Gainesville and the surrounding Northern Virginia communities, providing personalized, patient-centered podiatric care to help individuals stay active and pain-free. Outside of medicine, he enjoys rock climbing, cooking, and snowboarding.

Dr. Anne Shaffer is a board-certified podiatrist with a focus on non-surgical foot and ankle care. Originally from Aurora, Ohio, she completed her undergraduate education at The Ohio State University before earning her medical degree from the Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine in Independence, Ohio. She then completed a three-year podiatric medicine and surgery residency at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah.
Although Dr. Shaffer is trained in forefoot, rearfoot, and ankle surgery, she has a particular interest in conservative, non-operative treatment of lower extremity conditions. She commonly treats issues such as heel pain, plantar fasciitis, bunions, tendonitis, and general foot and ankle pain, helping patients find relief through personalized care plans.
Dr. Shaffer is proud to serve patients in Northern Virginia and the surrounding communities, providing compassionate, patient-centered podiatric care focused on improving mobility and overall foot health. In her free time, she enjoys yoga, spending time with her dogs, and traveling.
